Blue-Collar Dog Rescue is a 501(c)(3) organization. We rescue adoptable dogs from over-crowded shelters, and also work with stray and abandoned dogs.
We are committed to saving and bettering the lives of homeless dogs. We aspire to relieve the suffering and abuse they endure by providing medical care, sanctuary and advocacy.
Our end goal is to adopt them into loving homes as cherished pets so that they can live their lives as the companion-animals they were intended to be.
We live close with our rescue dogs. We treat them as part of our family, and this helps them become easily socialized with both people and other dogs.
This environment enables us to learn about our rescue dogs’ needs and temperament, and helps us to help them become loving and dependable family pets.
Mara’s new life. Beautiful Mara found herself at the shelter. Extremely high energy and ambitious, initially it seemed this cattle-dog girl just needed a job and outlet for her energy. But after some careful observation it became apparent that Mara was completely hearing impaired and this undoubtedly contributed to the perception that she was not wholly responsive to training.
Despite her hearing loss it was not long before her forever family stepped forward. Experienced with cattle dogs, her family is training and teaching Mara with sign language using elaborate hand signals to help her take direction. And Mara is eating it up!
We currently have two locations. Our Northern California location is situated on a verdant creek-bordered property with meadows, hills and dales. Our second site is in the thick of the city located in Berkeley, CA.
Thank you for considering adopting a rescue dog. Won’t you take a look at our currently adoptable dogs?
If you can’t adopt at this time please consider making a donation to help us continue the work we do.
